This handsome Pirate Cutlass with leather scabbard features a 24 1/2-inch (62.2 cm) blade with full hand
Pirate cutlasses with full basket hand protection were used throughout the 17th to mid-19th centuries.
The shorter length and weightiness of the cutlass was preferable for fighting in the close-quarters found aboard
sailing ships out on the high sea.
This Pirate Cutlass features a large, polished solid brass basket for hand protection and a hand-sewn leather grip
with chrome-plated brass.
The tempered high carbon steel blade measures 1 3/4 inches (4.4 cm) wide and 3/16 inch (0.48 cm) thick at the hilt
(where the blade and grip meet).
Overall, the sword is 30 1/4 inches (76.8 cm) long and weighs a very solid 3 pounds 2 ounces (1.4 kg).
