Full Description:
This Stanley London® premium 3-inch (7.5 cm) radius sextant is our finest miniature brass sextant. The sextant is a reproduction of a small lifeboat sextant used in emergencies for navigation. Despite it's small size, it is meticulously crafted and fairly accurate. While this sextant is functional, it is not calibrated nor intended for navigation. Additionally, please do not take sun sights or otherwise observe the sun directly with this sextant as eye damage will occur if this is ignored.
This sextant is available in both a beautiful polished brass finish, as well as an antique patina. The sextant measures 4 3/16 inches (10.6 cm) tall, 3 7/8 inches (9.8 cm) wide, 2 1/4 inches (5.7 cm) deep, and weighs 11.8 ounces (335 grams) which is 44% heavier than our other 3-inch sextant. It has a gear-driven adjustment of the elevation angle, and a built-in powerful magnifier that can be swung into position to assist in reading the vernier scale. The telescope can be extended to focus and produces a clear and bright magnified image. There are four dark swing-arm filters, and the back of the sextant's limb is engraved "Stanley London 1880." Either version comes complete with a heavy 100% leather case embossed "Stanley London" and a rear belt loop.
